Binalbagan is a 2nd class municipality in the province
of Negros Occidental, Philippines. According to the
2000 census, it has a population of 58,280 people
in 11,092 households. Binalbagan became a town in
1573 and was one of the two first settlements (the
other one being Ilog). Binalbagan is known for BISCOM
(Binalbagan Isabela Sugar Company).
Binalbagan is one of the 19 municipalities of Negros
Occidental, Philippines. According to the May 2000
census, it has a population of 58, 280 people in 11,
092 households. It is located 63-66 kilometers away
from and one hour and a half travel from Bacolod City.
The municipality of Binalbagan has a land area of
18, 540 hectares with 16 barangays. It is known of
its landmarks Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Mill, Binadlan
Falls and Omot Falls. In commemoration to San Isidro
Labrador, the town celebrates its annual feast with
Lumbayan Dance festival as highlight.
Dry season is from December to May
while the rainy season, like in other parts of the Philippines,
is from June to November. Average temperature is 26
degrees Celsius (80 degrees Fahrenheit).
Binalbagan is politically subdivided
into 16 barangays.
